InHouse Design Studio (ihd.) is an Architects and Interior Design company, that has been based in Wimborne, Dorset for over 25 years. Founded in 1997 by Chris Easton, the team specialises in the architecture and interior design for new-build houses, home extensions, barn conversions and the renovation of listed buildings.
We believe that where we live, work and play should bring us joy. That those spaces should be filled with natural light, have a connection with our surrounding landscape, and fundamentally provide you with everything you need and want from your home.
We listen before we do anything else and make it our mission to understand what outcome you need from your project. We will also come with lots of ideas, and by completely understanding your brief, timescale and budget, we always aim to deliver projects that will exceed all your expectations.
We may be a small design studio, but we have designed and built numerous homes and completed beautiful renovations over the years. This has helped us to build a reputation as a friendly and experienced practice, with a keen eye for detail.
As well as private homes, our portfolio also includes large developments of multi-residential units and small commercial shops and cafes. We believe in a holistic, hands-on approach to architecture and interior design, blending the two disciplines to help us complete the most beautiful projects, that will stand the test of time.
Today, ihd. is headed up by Sue Hancock, Chris’s daughter, who brings with her many years of experience as a chartered Architect, working on high-end residential properties in London, and more recently on private homes across Dorset, Hampshire and within the New Forest National Park.
Sue became a Chartered Architect with the RIBA after gaining her qualifications from the University of Portsmouth, School of Architecture, and later, the London Metropolitan University, School of Art, Architecture and Design.
She has worked on a large variety of projects over the years, within the commercial sector, on schools and Universities and within the residential sector, on high-end, luxury homes in London and more recently, within Dorset, Hampshire and within the New Forest National Park. Sue is hugely passionate about what she does and loves to work with individual clients to create their dream homes. She believes that by blending both architecture and interior design from the outset of a project, and by taking inspiration from our surrounding landscapes, we can create spaces that are truly special.
Sue also loves nothing more than being busy, and this definitely transfers into her home life too. With two young kids, a husband and a bouncy Labrador in tow, there is never a quiet moment! When she does find some spare time though, she also loves a good dog walk with friends, either along the beach or through the beautiful Dorset countryside, and will always be happy to follow that up with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in a pub garden!
Chris studied at the University of Nottingham and has built up a huge amount of experience over a 30-year career as a registered Architect, working primarily on individual homes within Dorset and the surrounding counties. Ihd. was founded by Chris in 1997, out of a desire to design spaces that people love to live in, as well as enabling a happy work-life balance with a young family.
Chris has recently handed the reigns over to Sue, however, she is still often found in the studio and is always interested in which ever project is on the drawing board! Like many architects, her love of buildings and design is a passion rather than a job!
Now that she has more time though, she can often be found walking with her dog, playing table tennis, or volunteering in the local community. She has a love of sport and over the past few years, has been enjoying travelling to many different countries to watch the England Cricket team play. A past-time that has taken her to many different cultures and landscapes so far!
